Savannah River Remediation (SRR) is seeking an Associate Industrial Hygienist to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

The Associate Industrial Hygienist recognizes, eliminates, evaluates and controls occupational and environmental factors or stresses arising from the workplace or facility that may cause sickness, impaired health or well-being, or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers or citizens of the community.

Safety is a primary responsibility in each job performed. The Associate Industrial Hygienist will obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task. The Associate Industrial Hygienist will take necessary steps to stop work if continuing the activity is unsafe or will create unsafe conditions.

An Associate Industrial Hygienist :

  • Conducts the monitoring of workplace environments by analyzing work operations, processes, materials, equipment, and work habits of employees

  • Educates employees on practices, precautions, and procedures

  • Audits programs and conditions at assigned facilities; provides written reports of findings with recommendations for improvement (where needed)

  • Accepts delegated technical responsibility for a limited scope of an Industrial Hygiene (IH) Program. Supports Senior Industrial Hygienist with IH programs

  • Performs conventional practices of IH by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling environmental factors or stresses in the workplace

  • Assists in study, development, testing and analysis of designs, processes, and procedures relating to a limited scope of the group's function

  • Performs occupational exposure assessments of conventional work exposures and conducts exposure monitoring strategies as assigned

  • Organizes and accepts responsibility for the accuracy of limited technical analyses and evaluation of results using conventional IH techniques and procedures

  • Makes scientific IH calculations

  • Assists in the preparation of technical reports

  • Completes other duties as assigned

Savannah River Remediation LLC, a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRR is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders Amentum, Bechtel, BWXT, and Jacobs. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health, Occupational Health or related physical or biological science.

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in a non-technical discipline and 2+ years work experience in a safety or IH role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship experience

  • Degree from ABET accredited institution for industrial hygiene
